Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Music and Theatre in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University seeks applicants for the position of Lighting Designer and Production Manager.
Responsibilities of the Lighting Designer and Production Manager include acting as resident lighting designer for ISU theatre productions, maintaining ISU theatre lighting equipment, and overseeing various theatre project designs and budgets. In addition, the position will supervise and mentor student designers and technicians, oversee student internships, and teach one course per semester in lighting design, sound design, stage management, or other related coursework.
The successful candidate will be a highly collaborative theatre artist who possesses broad technical theatre knowledge, significant lighting design experience, and a passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students who come from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.
Required Education and Experience:
Master’s degree and 3 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master of Fine Arts in Theatre or related field. - Professional or university lighting design experience. - Professional or university production manager experience. - University teaching experience. - Experience teaching lighting design and theatre technology courses. - Experience teaching stage management.
