Job Description: Assistant or Associate Professor of Composition
The University of Hartford's Hartt School invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor tenure-track position in Composition to begin in August 2019. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:
Fluency with 21st c. compositional concert music practices, and whose areas of expertise include at least 2 of the following:
Electro-acoustic music & interactive arts, collaborative projects, multimedia/gaming/sound design, sound art and related sonic installation practices, improvisation and open form experimental composition, familiarity with multiple creative traditions & practices including popular/commercial musics, arranging, and songwriting.
Demonstrated eagerness to research, invent and teach new avenues of compositional expression in this time of genre plurality is highly desirable.
Teach courses determined in part according to the specific expertise of the applicant, individual undergraduate through doctoral composition lessons, advise master's theses and doctoral dissertations. Possible directorship of one of Hartt's creative music ensembles. Serve the school, and university in areas such as committee work, curriculum development, and recruitment and retention, while broadly advancing the discipline of music composition

Completed doctorate in music composition preferred (master's degree required) or equivalent experience; a documented minimum of 3 years successful classroom and/or private studio teaching, and a demonstrated record of compositional production, performance, installation, recording and/or publication are required.
To meet the requirements of equivalent experience we will consider the following:
a composer/musician with a national or international reputation in performances, installations, commissions, recordings and/or publications.
