Ithaca College’s Department of Theatre Arts invites applications for a full-time, one-semester sabbatical replacement position in Sound Design & Technology for our top-ten ranked theatre department, beginning January 15, 2020. Teach in the B.F.A. Theatre Production & Design area, at the Assistant Professor/Instructor level for Spring 2020. Teaching responsibilities include: Advanced Sound Design and Mixing for Live Theatre, and Software for Theatre. Will mentor student sound designer and mixing engineer for a musical, design sound for a play with student assistants and engineers, and mentor sound students in cooperation with Lighting and Sound Shop Supervisor. The ideal candidate will have experience in mentoring young people in an educational environment. Professional sound design, mixing experience and knowledge of best practices required.
Collaborate with the Production Associate, design mentors, technical director, scenic artist, lighting & sound supervisor, costume shop manager, scene shop/properties supervisor in the scenery, props, and paint areas. Active participation in departmental shared governance through service, mentorship, and recruitment is required for all faculty positions. There are no scholarship/professional activity requirements for this one-semester position. Salary is commensurate to ½ annual salary and can include health benefits, but does not include housing during the contract period.
