RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach courses in costuming, makeup, theatre history and theatre appreciation. Design and construct, or supervise students in the design and construction, of costumes and makeup for six productions a year. Collaborate with theatre faculty in creating shows, recruiting, and empowering theatre arts students. Sponsor and support student theatre organizations. Participate in the larger campus community through faculty meetings, committees, student advising and supporting university arts and events.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will be an experienced theatre artist and instructor with a commitment to liberal arts education. A terminal degree in theatre, along with evidence of successful teaching and creative activity in theatre costuming and makeup design and implementation. APPOINTMENT: This is a one-year appointment beginning in August 2019. The position salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Academic load is figured as three quarters towards course work and one quarter towards production responsibilities.

The Department of Theatre Arts is a part of the School of Fine Arts at Ouachita Baptist University. The department is active in theatre education and performance production. It has approximately 70 majors in Musical Theatre (BFA),Theatre (BA) and Theatre Education (BA). Teaching and performing takes place in the 200 seat Verser Theatre and the 1500 seat Jones Performing Arts Center. The Department of Theatre Arts produces an active yearly performance season of four fully produced shows and two smaller one acts/ten minute shows with a full time faculty of four and an adjunct faculty in dance.
