The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking an Elementary/Middle school Theater teacher for full time employment beginning Fall 2019.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Candidates should have extensive classroom experience and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a group of enthusiastic academic and arts-based educators.
Teach Theater classes to students K-8.
Develop student centered curriculum, lessons and assignments/projects.
Develop a rubric for evaluating student work and growth.
Establish grade level goals resulting in performance, arts-integration, film projects, etc.
Direct one to two ES and one MS musical production a year.
Hold rehearsals and extra-help sessions during lunch/clubs periods.
Candidate will preferably have a BA/BFA in Theater, Musical Theater or Theater Education.
Candidate should be highly motivated and well organized with strong skills in verbal expression.
Knowledge of stage lighting and effects a plus.
Knowledge of, or experience with, learning disabilities is a plus.
A flexible and resourceful thinker who is willing to work as a member of the performing arts team on all performance requirements and help to build a cohesive K-12 Theater curriculum.
