Berklee Online is looking for a Experience Designer / Developer to work with marketing and side-by-side with all other project groups. This role will report directly to the Director of User Experience.
As an Experience Designer / Developer at Berklee Online, your core objective will be to understand business needs and product requirements related to the entire student journey - from first touch to graduation - and to transform client/project team vision into user-focused, intuitive interfaces for web and mobile.
Projects and products include the company's marketing site (online.berklee.edu), content marketing site (online.berklee.edu/takenote), a new careers section, a revamp of the military section, a dashboard redesign, and task-oriented flows that support the student's academic and administrative experience.
Responsibilities You will be working closely with the Director of User Experience, technology, marketing, designers, and other key stakeholders. A collaborative mindset and the ability to explain are keys to successfully working in this role. Your tasks will include:
Creating wireframes, content maps and functional specifications.
Provide support in preparing project research and workshop materials: surveys, worksheets, heuristic analysis reports and test plans.
Creating experience maps, user scenarios, mockups, prototypes and flows.
Validating ideas and designs to ensure feasibility/flawless execution.
Providing design options for split A/B tests and product performance evaluations.
Designing user experiences from low-fidelity sketches to high-fidelity mockups.
Creating rapid prototypes to validate design concepts with stakeholders.
Measuring recently launched websites and apps to establish benchmarks and identify potential areas of improvement.
Staying abreast of UX trends and looking for creative ideas and inspiration in parallel analogous worlds.
Developing interactive dashboards and different types of visualizations.
Create, establish, and document standards and best practices when completing origination project work.
UX Design Skills
Sketching and wireframing, ability to produce sitemaps, user flows, screen flows and create clickable prototypes. Experience working with UX, content, analytics teams to leverage user insights, analytics and competitive audits for best-in-class user experiences.
Deliver appropriate level of documentation to development teams with interaction design notes, flow diagrams and style guides.
Research and share industry trends, competitors, and comparable experiences with project teams. Drive and document design standards and patterns across channels and products.
Must be proficient using key software, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe XD, InDesign, and Sketch. Knowledge of mobile and web technologies required.
UX Development Skills
Although these skills are not required for the ideal experience design candidate, prior experience with the following is preferred, and will be a part of the role that will be taught, professionally developed and practiced.
Experience creating with, and managing WordPress sites
Knowledge of source control. Berklee Online uses Git, and runs/manages all dev environments via Docker
Understanding of model / view / controller framework concepts
4+ years experience
