Maclay School is accepting applications for a Full-Time Lower School Music Teacher. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher in music education with a focus on choir.
The ideal candidate should be energetic, creative, and a skillful music educator who is responsible for developing students’ understanding, skills, and appreciation of music, in particular, choral music. This person nurtures each student’s passions, talents, and boundless potential in the musical arts.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Full-Time Lower School Music Teacher reports to the Director of Fine Arts and is responsible for developing, teaching, and conducting the Grades PK-5th grade music program and aids with growing a choral program school-wide in conjunction with other performing arts instructors. This person also leads the musical direction during the all Lower School productions and assists with the Upper School Company Musical each year. Additionally, this person assists the other members of the Fine Arts Department during specified times and collaborates on the arrangement and staging of music performances and events.

Maclay School is a private, independent, non-sectarian college preparatory school located on 100 beautiful acres in northeast Leon County, Florida, about ten miles north of the state capitol building. It is dedicated to providing a liberal arts education, enabling each student to develop the inherent ability to the fullest extent with a balance of discipline and freedom. A group of parents founded the school in 1968 naming it in memory of Alfred B. Maclay, Jr., a World War II veteran whose mother was a major benefactor. The 2016-17 school year will be the 49th year for Maclay, now under the leadership of James Milford who is in his third year as Head of School.
