The Educational Sales Consultant is responsible for development, marketing and consultation for all classroom print products specific to classroom settings for students in pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. This position will support the West Music mission of “Encouraging people of all ages and abilities to: Play now. Play for life” by developing customer relationships through one-on-one consultation, attendance at conferences and conventions, and the creation and continued support of key account relationships within the music education market. They will provide multi-channel product expertise and both internal and external training to customer service and sales associates.
This full time position will be located in our Coralville, Iowa headquarters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Responsible for selling directly to individual, institutional, and other customer channels to assist the Music Education department in meeting sales goals.
Assists in achieving budgeted sales expectations in assigned product categories, analyzing assigned product area sales trends and recommending actions for effective inventory sell-through.
Works in collaboration with the Merchandise Management staff to select products in the classroom print category for representation in all West Music sales and service channels. Creates necessary product information for inclusion in West Music catalogs, training documents, on-line content and other sales channels.
Provides direct consultative sales and service for West Music customers primarily in the areas of Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. Recognize sales opportunity and work to meet customer needs through the sales process.
Responsible for training and educating West Music associates on products and services in selected categories.
Responsible for consulting with the Merchandise Manager team to select appropriate products for inclusion on the National Strategy calendar. Will represent the Educational Sales team in regular Print Team meetings to ensure products are well represented and advertised regularly.
Coordinates, prepares for, and attends conferences, exhibits, workshops, and teacher training programs. Acts as team lead as assigned including staff selection and training, coordinating travel details, and management of the event. Extensive overnight travel required to attend conferences, workshops, and training sessions.
Develop relationships with key accounts including individuals, educators, and institutional customers for the purpose of generating sales leads and sales. Responsible for building a network of customers and repeat business to establish a strong referral network.
Responsible for staying current with product knowledge in order to educate customers and co-workers. Will be responsible for monitoring general music classroom trends in their product areas.
Will be responsible for giving presentations in front of small to large groups of current and/or potential customers, educators, or peers.
Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Music Education or related Music degrees. A combination of education and related experience may be considered in lieu of a 4 year degree.
Must have prior experience in classroom music with focus on music education.
Skilled with the entire Microsoft Office suite of products.
Classroom teaching experience in music education preferred.
Previous sales and/or marketing experience.
