The part-time Upper School Stings Teacher is a professional, energetic, innovative and generous musician with teaching experience at the upper school level (grades 9-12). This part-time position will teach one section of a Strings class that includes a mixed range of abilities, beginners to advanced. The Strings class meets two hours a week and end of semester performances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for course curriculum
Lead class in end of semester performances/productions
Have a commitment to assisting in the assessment, growth and success of the Music program.
Work cooperatively with the department, faculty and staff throughout the school in striving for educational excellence.
General involvement as a faculty member and in assessment of student learning.
Support and continuous quality improvement through participation.
Maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect, which encourages students to risk asking questions, expressing their opinions, and making mistakes necessary to learning process.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
Participate in department, school, and parent meetings
Other duties as assigned
BFA, BM or BA Degree required
Strong sight-reading skills and the ability to improvise in a variety of styles is desired
2 years prior Upper School teaching experience
Emphasis on instruction of other techniques, tools and ideas.
Dynamic personality and enthusiasm for teaching

Understanding of and commitment to the school mission and goals
Understanding of and commitment to teaching and motivating students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
