Berklee College of Music invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Electronic Production and Design Department. The Department is looking for an experienced multidisciplinary design professional whose primary focus has been audio for interactive and immersive entertainment. The new hire will be a thought leader in the area of immersive entertainment technologies who is committed to working with curious, highly motivated students and who will bring current research and professional practice into a creative musical environment. This will include game development with a strong emphasis on audio design and integration, VR/XR development, programming/scripting and immersive audio production. This is a full-time faculty position with a renewable contract, initial appointment to begin September 1, 2020. Compensation is commensurate with professional experience.
Primary teaching responsibilities will include:
teaching core and elective courses in advanced music and media technology topics
working closely with directed study students on their capstone projects
developing and refining curriculum to reflect changes and developments in the industry.
Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or equivalent work experience in audio design for games, immersive audio, game development, or VR/XR development, as well as some relevant work experience in a related field, such as 3D animation, 360 video production or multimedia art. In addition, the successful candidate will have strengths in several of the following areas:
experience working with common game engines such as Unity and Unreal as well as audio middleware such as Wwise
experience working with DAW applications such as Pro Tools, Ableton Live, or Reaper
experience with 360 video and audio production
experience with multichannel recording techniques, including ambisonic recording
expertise working with video and graphics tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Maya, Blender, and SketchUp or prototyping tools such as A-Frame
experience designing and mixing audio for Dolby Atmos or other 3D audio systems
experience designing for VR systems such as Oculus and Vive experience designing for WebXR and MobileXR
