Director of Music Theatre, Elon University, Department of Performing Arts
Elon University’s Department of Performing Arts is seeking a full-time permanent professor of Music Theatre, to begin mid-August 2020. Track, rank, and compensation to be determined based on candidate’s experience and education.
Requirements include a terminal degree in theatre, music theatre, or related degree, and at least five years of significant experience teaching and directing music theatre at the university and/or professional level.
The successful candidate will:
demonstrate a strong vision for the future of our highly successful program,
possess collaborative administrative skills,
have valuable and extensive industry contacts to help further the program’s visibility and success,
show activity and relevance in the field of performing arts at the national and/or international level,
bring significant experience in mentoring and teaching within the performing arts (professional audition preparation, career coaching, casting agent series, directing productions, etc.),
be actively engaged in creative scholarship and professional activities that contribute to the advancement of music theatre as a profession and field of study,
be committed to inclusive excellence within their teaching, artistry, and scholarship, as it pertains to providing an equitable experience for a diverse range of people.
Primary teaching responsibilities will be acting and song performance courses within the music theatre curriculum and directing department productions. Other courses taught will reflect the successful candidate’s additional areas of expertise in music theatre and the Elon Core Curriculum.
