The School of Music at Portland State University seeks applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Music Technology for the Sonic Arts and Music Production (SAMP) program in the School of Music and Theater to begin September 16, 2020. The successful candidate will teach and develop courses in production and performance technologies, music software and hardware, instrument and device controllers, synthesis, programming, MIDI sequencing, audio recording, and music with visual media. The candidate will sustain a continuous and cumulative record of creative/scholarly activities, community outreach, and service to the School and University.
Earned Ph.D., D.M.A. or appropriate terminal degree in Music Technology, Computer Music, or related field.
Experience teaching music technology at the collegiate level.
Successful completion of a background check.
Have a broad range of professional experience in music technology – recording/post production, electronic composition and performance. The SAMP program currently uses Logic Pro, Studio One, and Max. Expertise with Pro Tools welcome.
Be conversant with current trends in music technology, its interdisciplinary potential with dance, theater, multimedia, film, interactive and distributive music-making.
