Glenelg Country School seeks a Technical Theater and Facilities Director to oversee the Mulitz Theatre, the school’s performance space and one of the primary venues for outside speakers and presentations. This is a central position in the school’s celebrated theater program, which involves students in every aspect of production and has a history of excellence in set design and construction. The Technical and Facilities Director will teach two Stagecraft courses and one Advanced Stagecraft class to Upper School students and will supervise all student construction and technical work for Lower, Middle and Upper School performances. S/he will collaborate closely with the Performing Arts Chair, Music Chair and administrative staff on all performances and events and will serve as the facility liaison to all outside vendor rentals. Specific duties include the organization and maintenance of all theatre equipment; oversight of performance production and maintenance budgets; oversight of tools, material, rigging, and electrical power; and scenic, lighting, and sound designs for a dozen performances. Skill and experience in carpentry, scene painting, theatrical lighting, sound operation and welding are essential. The Technical Director reports to the Performing Arts Department Chair, and must be available for nighttime and weekend commitments to support productions and events.
