Athletic Training Clinical Coordinator/Assistant Professor

The Gannon University Masters in Athletic Training (MAT) Program located at the Erie, Pennsylvania campus seeks a core faculty member to serve as the Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCE). This full-time, 12-month position begins June 1, 2021. Candidates qualified for a tenure track, Assistant Professor position with contemporary expertise in evaluation, mental health/behavioral considerations, and performance-enhancing techniques are preferred. Gannon University faculty work collaboratively with colleagues, deliver instruction, advise students, engage in scholarship, and participate in service. The CCE works closely with the Program Director to support administrative and instructional functions of the program and must fulfill all responsibilities of the CCE defined by the accrediting body, CAATE. These responsibilities include but are not limited to recruitment and maintenance of clinical sites; supervision of clinical sites; training and evaluation of clinical preceptors; and supervision and evaluation of students enrolled in clinical rotations. Release time is provided to support the administrative functions of this position.
Requirements for a tenure track appointment include an earned terminal degree (e.g. PhD, EdD DHSc, etc. by fall 2021) in health science or a related field. Individuals without a terminal degree will be considered for a teaching track appointment at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor; a minimum of a masters degree or higher is required for a teaching track appointment. Additional requirements include five (5) years of experience as a certified athletic trainer in good standing with the Board of Certification; an active Pennsylvania Athletic Training license in good standing or eligibility to obtain licensure in Pennsylvania; evidence of teaching effectiveness in higher education; effective interpersonal and written and oral communication skills; and an ability to be an effective team member. Gannon University is located in the heart of downtown Erie, Pennsylvania, along the shores of Lake Erie. Erie is a regional tourist destination boasting 11 beaches, a wide variety of seasonal activities, professional sports teams, a professional symphony, multiple venues for live theater and music, and many other entertainment options. Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo are located within a two-hour drive from campus.
