Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama invites you to apply for a full year appointment as a Special Visiting Faculty in Acting. This position is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. It will be necessary for you to be in residence in Pittsburgh, PA, for the academic year. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated through professional experience and/or teaching an ongoing commitment to anti-racist and social justice practice. We look for a broader lens of our times, the work, and the evolving conversation. We expect an in-depth understanding of the acting fundamentals rooted in Stanislavski. In addition, it is hoped that the candidate's professional and teaching background will include a knowledge of various acting techniques. A comprehensive grounding in plays, with an emphasis on contemporary and new works, is sought and an understanding of the current trends in the theater as well as experience in the professional world are crucial. The ideal candidate would possess adaptability to work within the current curriculum while also offering your own methods. Additional expertise or experience in another area such as acting for the camera, movement, directing, etc., is welcomed. Familiarity with musical theater, and its multiple disciplines, is a plus.
