Trevor Day school seeks a Middle and Upper School Choral Director for the 2021-2022 school year. This is a 0.75 FTE (full time equivalency) position with room to grow over time.
Candidates should be accomplished choral musicians and have comprehensive knowledge of the choral repertoire; have successful experience with and enjoy teaching adolescents; have strong knowledge of healthy vocal technique and the ability to teach changing voices in both individual and group settings, creating choirs that sing well; and have successful experience teaching sight-singing and ensemble musicianship. The successful candidate will be a teacher who inspires a love of choral singing and develops confident, proficient, literate singers.
The position’s primary responsibilities will be to lead choirs in grades 6-12 and to serve as music director for the Middle School musical. The position also includes being an advisor to students in one grade.
Particularly welcome, but not required, would be an accomplished collaborative pianist in a wide variety of styles and genres, with aptitude and interest in serving as principal accompanist for large ensemble rehearsals, concerts, musical theater productions, and major school events.
The successful candidate will be a team player and will have a sense of humor and a desire to be involved in the life of our school community.
