The School of Music at the State University of New York at Fredonia invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor whose duties will include studio voice teaching and oversight of a robust opera program. With primarily undergraduate students, the program includes annual fully staged opera productions, opera seminars, opera scenes, and partnerships with a variety of local and regional professional organizations. The appointment begins Fall 2023. The Fredonia School of Music is a thriving program with approximately 600 undergraduate and graduate students. The curriculum prepares students for careers in music performance, musical theater, music education, sound recording, composition, jazz, and music therapy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Director of the School of Music, the successful candidate will:
Serve the voice area in studio vocal instruction, opera related courses, and oversight of the opera program.
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
Contribute to curriculum development and refinement.
Provide academic advisement to students.
Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession.
Be active as a recruiter for the Voice Area.
Masters degree in Music from an accredited institution plus a minimum three years' professional performance experience.
A record of excellence in teaching applied voice at the collegiate level.
Demonstrated distinction in, and continued commitment to operatic production activities.
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of campus and department mission.
Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession.
Demonstrated commitment to community engagement.
Strong organizational skills.
Doctorate in Music from an accredited institution.

Significant operatic experience as a producer, performer, and/or director on the national level.
