The Department of Theatre and Dance at the State University of New York at Fredonia invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate B.F.A. and B.A. courses in Acting, Directing, Script Analysis, and Devising/Playwriting as well as courses that support the entire department, depending on the candidate's teaching qualifications and abilities. Salary range $51,000 - $56,000. The successful candidate will direct productions within the department's mainstage season and occasional opera productions within the School of Music's production season. Preference may be given to candidates with additional professional experience and teaching expertise. These may include devising, acting styles, Shakespeare, musical theatre, dramaturgy, intimacy direction, dialects and accents, or other aspects of theatre that would prepare students to become influential theatrical practitioners and entrepreneurs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:
Teach courses in the department's acting and directing sequence (BFA and BA), and other performance courses as applicable and qualified;
Participate in the department's governing process by attending department meetings and serving on committees as assigned;
Mentor students on performance projects and recitals outside of class time;
Participate in student assessment through semester juries, recitals and other projects;
Provide academic advisement to students;
Participate in recruitment and auditioning student applicants to the department;
Contribute to curriculum development and refinement;
Participate in committees and provide service to the university and the profession;
Encourage a positive work environment and the achievement of high standards;
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MFA or PhD in a Theatre or Theatre-related discipline from an accredited institution by August 2023;
University Teaching Experience;
Directing Experience at the University Level or Professional Level;
Acting experience at the university and/or professional level;
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of both the campus and department's mission.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Playwriting and/or Devising experience at the university and/or professional level;
Professional acting and/or directing credits with union affiliation;
Professional experience and teaching expertise which may include devising, acting styles, Shakespeare, musical theatre, dramaturgy, intimacy direction, dialects and accents, or other specializations;
Experience in Community Engagement in the Arts and/or Independent Theatre Production;
Experience with theatre focused on under-represented groups;
Experience with theatre topics representing represented.
