The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra seeks a General Manager to oversee the management of the orchestra, the operations department, and the professional execution of the department’s concert production, media, and touring responsibilities.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the position role facilitates the Orchestra’s involvement in and smooth operation of education, Symphony Hall Live, development, and artistic activities, and for the planning, contracting, and execution of concerts outside of Symphony Hall; is responsible for managing successful relationships with the Orchestra musicians as individuals and as a whole, including serving a key role in negotiating the musicians’ Collective Bargaining Agreement; serves as the primary point of contact for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Players’ Association (ASOPA) Committee; assists the Executive Director, fellow members of the Senior Leadership Team, and Music Director in developing the future direction of the ASO; responsible for the creation and management of the operations department’s budget and for creating and managing the orchestra’s calendar for both current and future seasons.
The General Manager attends Board and Executive Committee Meetings as requested and other meetings on an as-needed basis. The General Manager serves as primary liaison for any Board committees or task forces related to labor management, management of the orchestra, and co-leads groups related to media.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum of six years’ experience in a senior management position of a major or regional orchestra.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Knowledge and experience in production and other related areas pertaining to symphonic and popular music concerts; national AFM media agreements; and orchestra CBA negotiations.
Understanding of accounting principles and budgeting.

The core of the ASO's extensive education... programs are the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Talent Development Program, which have proven to be extraordinarily successful in engaging young Atlantans in musical training and preparing the next generation of orchestral musicians. The Talent Development Program, founded 30 years ago, is a talent-based elite training program for young Black and Latinx musicians who wish to pursue a career as an orchestral musician. TDP alumni include members of professional orchestras in the US and beyond, Sphinx and other competition winners, educators, thought leaders and entrepreneurs. In addition, the ASO's traditional education activities provide orchestral concerts for tens of thousands of young people and programs for young children and caregivers.
