The Department of Music & Musical Theatre at SUNY Geneseo is seeking applications for a full-time Lecturer in Voice, beginning August 2023. The candidate’s areas of specialization must include voice performance and pedagogical expertise in both classical and musical theatre techniques. The initial term will be for one year, with the possibility for renewal.
The department offers a B.A. program with majors in Music (with tracks in Performance, History/Theory/Ethnomusicology/Composition, Jazz & American Music Studies, and Music Business, Recording & Production) and Musical Theatre along with a Bachelor of Professional Studies (B.P.S.) degree in Musical Theatre; students from other majors actively participate in ensembles and in a wide variety of general education courses in music. In addition to instruction, all music & musical theatre faculty members are expected to engage in service to the college, to be productive as artists/scholars, and to promote an inclusive workplace and learning environment.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Provide weekly voice lessons for voice performance and musical theatre majors;
Instruct weekly performance studio class, as well as periodic voice seminars;
