POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $61,151. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $75,917. WORK SCHEDULE: The ability to work a flexible schedule is required. The primary work hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am - 4 pm with flexibility to accommodate required nights and weekends depending on production or other booking needs.

Westchester Community College is seeking a full time, year-round Theatre & Performing Arts Technician for a small performing arts program and other theatre facility users.
The successful applicant will be a technical theatre generalist. Primary duties are for lighting and set construction, but the position also requires competency with theatre sound, painting, props, and other elements of successful stage production. This will include becoming and/or staying certified as necessary to run stage and rigging equipment. This position also provides on-site supervision for Stagecraft classes and lab hours.
Some of the major duties include:
Technical support for all performing art classes
Serving as a liaison with Westchester Community College personnel using theatre facilities
Serving as a liaison with technical people from outside groups scheduled in the theatre
Ongoing safety and security checks for rigging equipment, lighting equipment, etc.
Supervising student use of the theatre, dance, music studies, and scene shop for practice, rehearsals, and set construction
Oversee general theatre scheduling
Maintenance of the theatre, dance, and music storage facilities
Submitting requisitions for theatre equipment
Assist with performance related duties as required
All other duties, as assigned
The successful candidate must be able to work in a diverse educational environment and work well with faculty, students, and performing arts professionals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess one of the following:
A Bachelor's Degree with major course work and one year of technical director or related experience, or
A high school or equivalency diploma and five years as a professional technical director or related experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: MFA in Technical Theatre; and experience in working in or with educational organizations.
