Clackamas Community College Music Department seeks an individual of integrity and collegiality to teach and mentor students in music recording, production, and technology. Music Department Offerings
Degree Paths:
Music Technology Certificate: gives students the core skills needed to enter the sound and music production industry. Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:
complete recording projects illustrating competence in professional audio recording technologies and the ability to complete the production process using appropriate software/hardware;
complete recording projects that include elements of music and audio in digital format, including MIDI, sound sampling, synthesis, processing, editing, and mixing and display confidence in the use of associated software/hardware appropriate for these tasks in a professional setting;
produce a final recording project that demonstrates preparedness for entry into a career related to music technology, and articulate how that project relates to professional opportunities in that field;
critically analyze and discuss multimedia works (their own or others) in the context of music history and/or theory;
demonstrate an awareness of ethical, legal, and business considerations involved when creating recorded audio works, including basic professional skills related to documentation and rights licensing for copyright, fair use, etc.
Music Performance & Technology Associate of Applied Science (AAS): overlaps with the one-year music technology certificate and provides skills in three broad categories necessary to successfully make a living as a professional musician and closely-related fields. Students learn:
musicianship and performance skills;
technical skills appropriate to composition, recording, digital audio and studio production;
business skills necessary for an entrepreneurial career
Music Associate of Science (AS): transfer degree preparing students to enter upper division courses to complete a bachelor of music degree. Courses establish the foundations in understanding of music theory, aural skills, keyboard skills, ensemble playing, music performance and music technology. Students in this degree path seek careers in:

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teach weekly classes in music technology, recording engineering and music production.
Engage with and oversee the program advisory committee for Music Technology.
Serve as lead faculty for the Music Technology program which includes keeping the curriculum up to date with the changing needs of the music industry.
Assess student learning and lead program review for Music Technology.
Oversee the maintenance of recording equipment and facilities of the Music Department.
Collaborate with faculty and students in performance production and recording projects.
Serve on CCC committees as appropriate.
Maintain an appropriate presence on campus for full-time faculty.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Associate degree in music with a minimum of 5 years professional experience in music technology or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Teaching and/or mentoring experience
Experience and expertise in industry-standard software, such as Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton Live, Reason, etc.
Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College’s culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to change.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in creative activity, teaching and service.
Knowledge of traditional sound design principles and theory, contemporary issues, and emerging platforms in sonic communication.
Experience with streaming performances.
Exceptional accomplishment in recording music, electronic music composition, music production and music for film and media.
Experience in overseeing and maintaining recording equipment and facilities.
