The Department of Music at Smith College invites applications for a 2-year, benefits-eligible Postdoctoral Fellow in Music Technology to begin July 1, 2023. The candidate’s primary research and practice may lie within any specialty in computer or digital music, including interdisciplinary work. Special consideration will be given to candidates able to teach advanced production and to those able to propose courses relevant to the field of Computer Science, such as creative coding. In addition to teaching one course per semester, the candidate will be expected to help develop and maintain the electronic music studio and the computer music lab. A doctorate or other terminal degree in music technology, music composition, digital media, computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, cognition or neuroscience, or a closely related field is expected by the start of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in music technology are encouraged to apply.
