Job Description Summary:
The Department of Theatre invites artist/educators for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre—Musical Theatre position beginning August 15, 2023 through August 14, 2024. Responsibilities: teach undergraduate courses in musical theatre BFA curriculum such as Acting the Song, Musical Theatre Workshop, Professional Practices ; serve as Director on departmental productions; vocal coaching; advising students and helping graduating students transition to the professional world. Experience in other areas such as stage direction, choreography are a plus. Successful candidates will be dedicated to teaching students in a BFA setting and to positive collaboration with fellow artists, possess a thorough knowledge of current vocal trends and musical theatre repertoire, have university teaching experience and have a record of at least 5 years of professional performance/musical directing work.
Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications:
MFA in Theatre (acting/directing or musical theatre) or comparable degree plus professional experience; or a master's degree or BFA with extensive professional experience.
