Qualifications
Candidates must have an?earned doctorate or MFA in a theatrical design-related field, or technical direction and must demonstrate teaching experience. Candidates must also have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk, and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and curriculum development in areas of technical theatre and design, covering a range of topics that support not only curricular requirements for majors of Theatre Arts, but also the Foundational Core curriculum. A Full-Time Load will include teaching, technical direction of mainstage productions, and a maximum of two design projects per academic year.?
The Technical Director provides supervision in the theatre performance and production support facilities of the Music, Theatre and Dance department at Taylor University, including but not limited to, the Mitchell Theatre, the studio space, and scene shop. The TD supports backstage operations of the Taylor Theatre venues. TD support includes assisting facility and student users by providing expertise in operations as well as venue equipment. Responsibilities also include advising students, committee work, and working closely with colleagues to advance the mission of the college in the wider community. Create technical drawings, set construction, maintain performance and work areas along with all equipment and inventories.??
Department
Taylor University Department of Music, Theatre and Dance offers the BA in Theatre and NASM-accredited degrees including BM in Performance, BM in Composition, BM in Music Education, BA in Music, BS in Music, and BFA in Musical Theatre. There are seven full-time faculty and approximately twenty-five part-time faculty who serve more than 300 students each semester in applied music, ensembles, theatrical productions, and academic course work.?
