This position serves as the primary lead for audio / visual media production and multimedia presentation in Ted Mann Concert Hall (TMCH), a facility within the College of Liberal Arts School of Music (SOM). The individual in this position reports to the Technical Production Manager. This individual:
â— Works with faculty, staff, students, external customers and outside professionals to provide audio and video production, recording, sound reinforcement, web broadcasting and other technical services in TMCH and other SOM performance venues.
â— Responsible for the creation, management, distribution, and archival of various media to document and showcase the educational and professional achievements of the SOM and its students and faculty.
â— Collaborates with members of the School of Music and Ted Mann Concert Hall in the recommendation and oversight of acquisition and installation of production-based and instructional-based technologies for the SOM.
â— Leads, supervises,hires, trains, and schedules part time A/V technical and production staff.
Required Qualifications:
â— BS or Technical degree and at least four (4) years of training and experience in both performance and production fields employing analog and digital systems for audio and video production. Equivalent combinations of related education and work experience in a related field equal at least eight (8) years.
â— Demonstrated ability to direct professional live video and audio production, including recording, sound reinforcement, digital video production and content management, digital audio and video editing, and web broadcasting to support a broad diversity of programs and artists in music, theater, and dance, including professional national and international touring companies, student ensembles, local community arts organization, and commercial productions.
â— Working knowledge of theatrical video, audio, and lighting technologies and intercommunications systems.
â— Demonstrated ability to learn and operate industry specific operating systems. Experience networking digitally-controlled audio and video systems. Experience with both Mac and Windows operating systems.
â— Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends, including overtime, based on Ted Mann Concert Hall’s event schedule.
â— Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to climb and operate effectively on ladders; personnel lifts and catwalks are a part of routine tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
â— Proficiency gained from multiple years of experience, typically the most seasoned expert in a department sought after for technical advice.
â— Ability to effectively lead and supervise student, freelance, and vendor crews.
â— Command of a wide variety of analog and computer-based audio and video systems, such as Adobe Premiere, Apple Logic Studio, MSOffice and Google Apps for Business; RME, AJA, and Black Magic devices.
â— Experience working with both analog and digital mixing consoles, such as Yamaha M7CL, Yamaha DMI000.
â— Experience with HD video cameras, switchers, encoders and projectors, as well as broadcast or streaming equipment and protocols.
â— Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the acoustics within various performance spaces and can effectively employ advanced recording techniques to capture acoustic music performances at their best.
â— Experience with life-safety procedures related to theatrical production.
â— Strong organizational skills; ability to manage large amounts of data.
â— Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with a diverse client base. Ability to thrive in a team environment.
â— Ability to do basic equipment repair, including soldering.
