Position description
The Department of Music at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Contemporary Music Composition and Performance.
The Department of Music at the University of California Berkeley seeks an accomplished composer for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek a collaborative artist who works across a variety of composition and performance practices, and whose artistic outlook and identity will significantly diversify the department, in teaching and music creation. The successful candidate will be fluent in new musical compositional techniques which may include notational practices, instrumental writing, music production, new media technologies, studio-assisted composition, and musical performance. Applicants will be ready to collaborate deeply with colleagues within the Music Department and in other fields, both on and off campus; play an active role in shaping the governance of our department; mentor our diverse and dynamic student body in both graduate and undergraduate composition programs; and develop courses that expand and strengthen our curriculum.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) PhD (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in PhD or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start) At least 6 months professional activity as composer or creative musician.
Preferred qualifications University teaching experience, international artistic profile.
