The Lab School of Washington, a progressive, arts-based 1-12 grade independent school for students with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia, seeks a dynamic and creative Performing Arts Teacher for a long-term substitute position (anticipated dates are mid March through mid June 2025) in its Lower School (grades 1-4). The Lab School's arts-based curriculum employs a project-based approach to developing both small, informal productions as well as those of a larger scale. The ideal candidate has experience in the areas of performance, production, and arts education. The typical school day for teaching faculty is 7:45am – 3:45pm.
Candidates must have:
Bachelor's degree in Theatre Performance, Theatre Education, or a related field
Master's degree or MFA in Theatre/Music Performance or Education preferred
Music and Dance experience a plus
Experience teaching elementary school students
Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills
Well-demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
Nurturing, patient, and flexible nature
Flexible schedule to accommodate after school rehearsals and performances

The full-year salary range for this position is $55,000-$100,000. Salary will be pro-rated based on the portion of the year worked.
