Effective September 1, 2011, all employees of State and local government must reside in the State of New Jersey, unless exempted under the law. If you already work for State or local government as of September 1, 2011, and you do not live in New Jersey, you are not required to move to New Jersey. However, if you begin your office, position or employment on September 1, 2011 or later, you must reside in New Jersey. If you do not reside in New Jersey, you have one year after the date you take your office, position or employment to relocate your residence to New Jersey. If you do not do so, you are subject to removal from your office, position or employment.
Ramapo College is currently operating under the RamaPro model which is a pilot program allowing for a remote component to work schedules where operations support that model.
This is a full-time, CWA position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: Those non-faculty employees in the “NE” category of employment may have irregular or variable work hours. The compensatory time policy for NL employees applies to “NE” employees up to 40 hours per week. Beyond 40 hours, the overtime policy for fixed workweek employees applies (i.e., rate of time and one-half in payment or compensatory time).

JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Storeroom Supervisor, is responsible for basic professional functions such as overseeing the receipt and delivery of all merchandise delivered through Central Receiving including student packages in accordance with College policy and carrier shipping requirements. Provides support for the convenience copier program and fixed asset program. Under the direction of the mailroom supervisor, assists with the pick up, sorting and distribution of mail.
DUTIES
- Supervises receipt and delivery to units of all merchandise delivered to Central Receiving including student packages.
- Inspects all shipments for non-concealed damages and notifies carriers accordingly.
- Segregates merchandise into normal or overnight delivery categories.
- Delivers daily all UPS, DHL and Fedex packages to appropriate units.
- Maintains essential records and files such as documentation of receipt of goods by units.
- Oversees with the coordination and delivery of furniture with housekeeping and CCIS for computer equipment.
- Maintains computer and publication storage and inventory records, overseeing the delivery as needed.
- Assigns and monitors the work of part-time and/or student workers as required.
- Assists in the development of training programs for students, staff, and others.
- Trains and supervises student assistants including Residence Life student aides on the procedures for proper processing and safe handling of all merchandise delivered through Central Receiving.
- Processes unit requests for returning shipments to vendors within 5 working days.
- Applies principles, federal and/or state laws and regulations in the course of official duties
- Ensures compliance with safe handling of hazardous materials as mandated by NJ State and Federal laws.
- Provides guidance and instruction in the proper and safe use of equipment for which the area is responsible such as providing support for the convenience copier program
- Reads all copier meters monthly and faxes unit copy volumes to the supplying vendor for unit charge backs.
- Investigates and addresses unit-billing discrepancies as needed.
- Serves as back up to supervisor for orders, distributes and the preparation of unit chargeback billings for all copy paper.
- Provides support for fixed asset program including data input, public sales, equipment tagging, and asset disposal.
- Serves as back up for the input of monthly financial data into the Best Software Fixed Asset database.
- Locates and tags equipment for inventory tracking.
- Performs monthly spot checks and assists with all college inventories as directed.
- Under the direction of the mailroom supervisor, as needed, assists with pick-up, sorting, distribution of US Postal and inter-office mail.
- Tracks UPS and Fedex shipping and delivery using internet tracking.
REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree.
NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis.
NOTE: Applicants who possess an Associate's degree may substitute two (2) years of position-related experience for the remaining two (2) years of education.
Experience in central receiving work including obtaining, recording, maintaining records, safeguarding and delivering of various types of equipment, materials and supplies.
LICENSE
Must possess a valid driver’s license in the State of New Jersey and the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Knowledge of stockroom and stock record keeping methods and procedures.
Knowledge of transportation, shipping and packing methods.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions and to learn quickly from oral and written explanations.
Ability to maintain storeroom areas in a clear, orderly, safe and sanitary condition.
Ability to supervise and assist in the work of taking periodic physical inventories.
Ability to learn and utilize computer based inventory and fixed asset system.
