The University of Kansas School of Music seeks to fill a full-time, academic year (nine month) faculty position to teach undergraduate and graduate music history and musicology beginning on August 18, 2024. The School of Music at the University of Kansas strives to offer a comprehensive array of programs of study at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. The School offers required coursework to students wishing to pursue a profession in music or those pursuing related programs of study on campus. The School also offers elective opportunities for music study to the overall student body.
This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure - track). This position will typically teach five courses divided over two semesters, advise master's theses, doctoral dissertations, and DMA documents, maintain a record of scholarly productivity that indicates continuing growth and national and/or international visibility, as well as actively participate in the intellectual life of the school and university, and serve on graduate and faculty committees. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research in their major field of study, to teach courses in American music and other musicology courses as needed, and to advise graduate documents in musicology.
